Kagome knew that she shouldn't have reacted to her thoughts of InuYasha that way. She was sitting in Will's lap; of COURSE he'd notice. But he quickly seemed to forget as she told him of her family. When she started crying... oh, how embarrassing!... he just hugged her close. She loved him for that. He reassured her, letting her know of his own homesickness, and alleviating her pain a little. Kagome's breath caught a little as she was squeezed, but it wasn't unpleasant. Not at all. She wiped her tears away and laughed a little. "Oh, I'm so silly..." she said, her voice breaking. "I thought that I was the only one who was that homesick. I didn't think-" she broke off, staring into Will's face. She was softened by what she saw there, and her heart melted a little. He missed his family too. How inconsiderate of her! She buried her face into Will's chest even as his face was in her hair. He whispered "I love you" to her, slightly muffled. But she understood. "Screw the first date." . Kagome laughed softly. "Yes, the first date is kind of out of the picture. Well, unless you consider our introduction a first date, our chatting a second date, swimming the third, kissing the fourth, passing out the fifth, saving me the sixth.." Kagome looked down and covered her mouth with a small smile. "I'm rambling. I'm sorry, I think you get the picture." She looked back up at Will, eyes shining. "Now that I've told you of my eccentric family, tell me of yours," she asked earnestly. She wanted to get to know him, and knew that she could divine the way he felt about his family from how he talked of them.
But then, something he had said hit her... he had said something... it made her think twice. "What do you mean, you're not going to see your mother again?" she asked gently, lifting her face from his bare chest and taking his face carefully in her hands. She touched her lips to his softly once, twice, before pulling back slightly, letting him speak.
