Haruhi sighed as she trudged to the bus stop. It was early afternoon on the weekend, it was raining, and she needed to run into town to grab a few things for her dorm. Shampoo, some snacks, paper towels and window cleaner... the list was short, but necessary. And as she couldn't exactly drive, she needed to take the bus.
Slinging her bag over her shoulder, Haruhi sat down on the bench to wait for the bus. Hopefully it wouldn't be too long, it was supposed to come every hour on the hour, and it was 10 minutes til the next circuit.
With a scowl, Haruhi stared at the rain dripping off of her umbrella right in front of her face. "What a day..." she said forlornly. Depressing days like this one always made her- well, depressed. There wasn't much she could do about it, and it made her want to have company along with her, but she hadn't really made too many friends at the school yet. Haruhi raised her eyebrows and took a deep breath, determined to try to be more outgoing.

The bus....
The one day he forgets his flying skateboard, he has to take the bus. It's not like his father wanted to send it to him or anything...
A deep huff left Death the Kid's lips as he held tightly to his dark hooded coat. He almost looked like his father with it all on. The white mask on the front was raised as to not scare the locals. That always seemed to so do. But it made a good umbrella. He huffed once more as he saw the bus stop before him. Even someone sitting on the bench for it.
Great.
Was he really going to have to make talk with someone....? In the rain. How pathetic... Moving to the bench, he quickly slumped down to the wet bench and waited. His yellow eyes looked to the person next to him for only a moment, but quickly looked back to the ground. Just a simple looking person, nothing much.

Haruhi swiped her short-cropped hair out of her face, trying to keep the dripping locks from running rivulets into her eyes. She could see how she might be mistaken for a boy... plain clothes, no gender distinction; short black hair; completely flat-chested; voice that could go either way. The only thing that distinguished her, in surface appearance, were her eyes. They were huge, buttery brown in color, and constantly held wide open as she took in the world.
Well then. As Haruhi waited for her bus, another lonely, sodden figure made its way over and sat down next to her. Haruhi kept her eyes straight forward, until curiosity got the better of her. She turned to look at the newcomer.
It was a boy, about her age; his hair was the same length as hers, and his eyes were a strange but not unattractive shade of yellow. His hooded cloak was black. The boy had an oddly symmetrical look about him... except for the three white stripes in his hair. It was kinda cute, actually. And he looked just as pleased to be sitting there, on the bench in the rain waiting for the bus, as she felt. Which was not very eager at all. Inching over, Haruhi moved her large umbrella so that it covered both of them. She didn't want to be rude; as long as she had plenty of umbrella, why not share it?
"Hi," she said, trying to start a conversation. "The name's Haruhi. I'm a first year at the school, Chocolat Academy. I think I've seen you there, right?" A chill swept through Haruhi's light jacket from the wet breeze, and she shivered.

Death the Kid nearly lept from his seat as the person spoke next to him. He was not really expecting that kind of a voice, but whatever the case, his head slowly turned. His yellow eyes peered to hers. "Hello." He replied simply. His ears listened into her words as she spoke. Seems she went to the same school he goes to. Coincidence?
He leaned back on the seat and nodded to her. "I go there as well. First year." He informed calmly. "N-Nice t meet you, Haruhi. I am Death the Kid. But most just call me Kid." He informed with a nod. Kid crossed his arms and looked out to see no signs of the buss. How annoying....
He let out a sigh as the rain seemed to be getting stronger. The sudden sounds of Thunder roared near by. Death the Kid let out a small yelp but did not really budge. He sighed once more. "Hopefully it wont start raining sideways... that gets weird any annoying... I like it when it rains straight down.." He looked to Haruhi as he reminisced about how he liked the rain when it fell right.

"Hi, Kid." Haruhi raised her eyebrows at his strange name, but didn't comment on it. She'd seen enough wierdness in her life to know when to mention it and when not to- and this was one of those times when it would be better to keep quiet about the oddity.
As a sudden peal of thunder ripped through the air, Haruhi's eyes grew very wide. She inched closer to the cute boy sitting next to her, until her arm touched his and her knee was pressed against his. She turned to him, a wild expression in her eyes. "Mmhmm... raining straight down... who doesn't like that?" she said, obviously distracted.
Another clap of thunder sounded, closer this time. Haruhi was scared to death of thunderstorms... if she had known it was going to do more than just rain, she would never have left the safety and comfort of her dorm. Thunder rolled across the sky again, and Haruhi found herself practically sitting on top of Death the Kid.
"S...sorry..." she stuttered, shaking. "I... hate... thunder..." Yet another sounded, and she yelped, hiding her face in the Kid's shoulder.
