Dareynn sighed as he walked along one of the many trails of the forest; he really wasn't sure where he was going, but he didn't care. He hadn't been out here much; he preferred being indoors, where it was dark and sunless.
The sun was just sinking in the sky, weaving orange, pink, and purple into the blue sky as it disappeared. Night would hit soon, bringing the tiny pinpricks of light scientists called stars.
Dareynn stuck his hands in the pockets of his black jeans as he trudged on, his pale face blank as he stared at the ground. He didn't mind wandering around the forest; if anyone tried to ambush him, he had at least ten knives on his person at the moment; unintentionally, his hand wrapped around the twelve inch dagger in his pocket.
It had taken him a week to figure out how to conceal it; finally, he had simply cut a hole in his pocket and stuck the sheath in it. The hilt would hit his hipbone every once in a while, but he didn't mind the pain.
As he was lost in thought, he hadn't noticed how close he had wandered to the edge of a drop-off. He only looked up because he heard the waterfall. Normally, he wouldn't have gone anywhere near the edge; he hated heights.
But tonight...well, he hadn't noticed. Even when he noticed it, his feet were only a few centimeters from the edge. His eyes widened, and, as he tried to back up, the soft dirt and grass beneath him gave out, dropping him off the edge.
He didn't scream as he fell; years of enduring his step-father had made him suffer in silence. He curled up as he fell, yanking his knees to his chest and burying his head between them so he couldn't see the rising ground beneath him.
Then he hit water.
Only his Louisiana upbrining on the bayou saved him; thinking quick (and forgetting there were no alligators in Japan), he kicked to the surface, gasping lungfuls of air like it was going out of style. He swam quickly to the shore and climbed out, shaking not from cold but from the fall.

| Unintentional Drop This was her first day. It almost was at it ends and when Finne looked up to the sky she saw how it was changing from blue to black. In the forest the most trees were covering the view but it was still clearly enough to see the sky. While her footsteps were calm her gaze was looking around all the time. Finne even was looking worried. Normally she would feel comfortable when she was walking alone in the forest but now she had the feeling being watched, and it was frightened her.
" Is there someone..?" She wisped softly, in the quiet forest around her even the little sound was too much and she did not dared to speak louder. After a few seconds standing still, looking around her. Listening to the sounds around her to find something 'not normal' she sighed relieved. Afcourse there was no one. It was just her mind. Was she getting paranoid of this place? Why. "There is no one.. Afcourse not."She said to herself, breaking the silence again, she just wanted to convince herself she was alone.
The scared feeling wasn't going away and she cursed in her mind. Ow why did she wanted to go to the forest this time. Why was she so naive that every place was the same like her well known forest close to her home. Finne was far away from her home now. Afcourse was everything different. She started to walk, but because of her moment of fear she did not knew were she was. Because of all the turning around she lost her feeling were she was. "Ow no.." She cried out.
She started to walk alittle, hoping she had chosen the right way and when she focused on her ears she could hear the sound of water coming closer. Water? In a forest? Before she even could bother about it she saw there was an plain field, and water.. There was also something else cathing her eyes. A guy was crawling out of the water and right when she saw it she was getting worried. Was he okay? Did Finne dared to walk to him. In a moment of thinking she decided to walk to him and with fast steps she walked closer. Only the look of him crawling out the cold water was making her shiver and almost feeling the cold and she moved her jacket closer to her body. "Are you okay?" She said while looking to him, she kept a distance between them so she wasn't sure if he was able to hear her voice.

As Dareynn pulled himself from the water and onto the bank, grateful the the water was level with the ground and not lower, he coughed up the water he'd accidentally swallowed. Sure, it was better than water in the bayou he'd grown up by, but it was still freezing water.
His lungs burned as he spat the freezing liquid on the ground, ignoring the pain. He heard someone ask if he was okay; for a moment, the words didn't register. Without replying immidiately, he flopped over on his side, still half in the water.
A cold wind blew through the small clearing, pulling at his clothes and chilling him to the bone. Cold and water were not a good combination, especially at night. He started shaking more than he had before; he didn't want whoever had seen him fall to know how terrified he was of heights. They could use the knowledge against him, or just pity him for it. Fears were a dangerous thing to have, in his mind.
His arms went around his torso, trying to conceal his shaking limbs. When he was sure his voice wouldn't shake or wheeze, he said, "I'm fine."

| Unintentional Drop "You sure.? " She walked to him and putted off her small jacket. There she stood in her blouse and skirt but she knew she had less problems with the cold then him and at least she wanted to feel alittle useful. "Here.." She said, reaching it out to the guy. Probably it would be to small for him anyway, but maybe it could give at least some warmth. Her eyes were looking to him but when she was feeling she was looking to long to him she turned shy to the ground. Ow why was she always so damn shy. Come one.. Say something Finne. She was pushing herself to say something and all that she could think off was introducing herself. "My name is Finne and you?" If it woudn't be so obvious she would have slap herself for being so random.

By the time she offered her jacket to him, he had recovered enough of his wits to sit up. Glaning at the girl out of the corner of his eye, he ignored the jacket she held out to him. When she said her name and asked what his was, he spat, "Dareynn. Why do you care?"
Shoving himself to his feet, he all but staggered away, to lean against a nearby tree. Why did everyone have to talk to him? Wasn't it obvious he wanted to be left alone? Maybe not so much anymore since he'd fallen off the cliff, but he was closer to being the way he had been minutes before: mistrusting and socially withdrawn. He loathed talking to other people; it drove him insane.

| Unintentional Drop She could handle it that he ignored her jacket. He probably was laughing about the size of it, that it would be to small for him, but she did not understood why he was reacting so cold and she moved way from him like a slapped dog.
Holding her jacket close to her for her chest, almost like if she wanted to hide behind it and she started to excuse herself. "I'm sorry.. I'm sorry.. I did not wanted to make you angry..I just wanted to .. help.." With every word she seemed to become smaller and it even looked like there were tears in her eyes. She never liked it when people where mean to her. Mostly because of her own dad, because he always had yelled to her. But there was no reason for this guy to be mean. Finne only wanted to help.
She just looked to him.. With big scary eyes, unable to even move away from him. The only thing she wanted was running away, but something was holding her back. She was feeling the cold on her arms and she wished to put on her jacket, but she just did not dared to move, scared for doing something wrong. Making this guy even more angry.
When she was looking closely to him she was able to see so much angry around him. How his body was, and most important, his eyes. They were full of hate and Finne just hoped, it was not against her..

Dareynn leaned against the tree, his jaw set. He closed his eyes briefly when the girl said she had just wanted to help him. "Did I ask for help?" he snapped, opening his sapphire blue eyes and glaring at her from beneath his ebony hair. It clung to his face, soaked, and he ran a hand through it impatiently, mussing the normally neat emo style. He looked at the ground, contemplating what he should do.
His clothes were soaked, too; if he didn't get warm soon, he'd get hypothermia or something. With an angry but nearly silent sigh, he turned his head from the ground to the girl. Sure, he'd been attending Chocolat' Academy for nearly three years, but he'd almost never been out in the forest; he wasn't sure where he was, or how to get back.
As much as he hated to admit it, he had to ask the girl which direction he had to go to get back. He wouldn't ask her to show him the way; this scared little creature would annoy him to no end. Besides, she probably wouldn't even want to walk back with him; who would?
As he reflected on how his step-father had been so cruel to him, told him he was worthless and stupid, and forced him out of the house, the pure hatred in his eyes melted, leaving only the desolation that was normally there. His face was blank, but his eyes screamed for help from the tomb his step-father had thrown him into, one he could not escape himself. "Which way is the school?" he asked tersely, shoving his hands into his soaking pockets to make sure his dagger was still there. It was; he could feel all the other knives he'd hidden on his person, too.

| Unintentional Drop "I'm sorry.." She said again "A..afcourse.. you did not.. asked for help.. I'm sorry" She putted her jacket on again and started to play with a glove. Just to do something because she did not knew what to say. It was obvious he did not wanted her to be here.
When he asked about the way to school she started to blush alittle. "I .. have no idea...I'm also lost.." Finne looked around again but had no idea were to go.

Dareynn's features formed disbelief for a moment before he forced his face back into the blank mask he always wore. "Wonderful," he spat sarcastically. What was he supposed to do now? He glanced up at the cliff, easily spotting where he'd fallen from.
Suppressing a shudder, he traced his path with his eyes; he'd fallen a long way. He was glad he had the excuse of being cold for shivering; he hated looking weak. I suppose I could try to retrace my steps from down here, he thought. But if he had to climb the cliff to get where he wanted to go... He didn't think he'd be able to. It was too high.

| Unintentional Drop "Its just my first day.." She said in an deffence. How could he even expect her to know every place already. Or maybe that guy just did cared and she started to move away from him. "I'm sorry for bothering.."She said on a sad tone before walking away from him, by doing steps behind her. Still faceing him, also curious of what he was going to do. Why was he in the water anyway. She knew it was cold, so it coudn't just be for a swim.
Ow why was he so stuborn, he really looked like he had it cold, alot. So why did he not accepted her help. Finne just decided to walk away. He did not wanted her help, so what could she do. And even he wanted her help.. She was also lost..
Before she turned away from her she looked again from the cliff, to the water to the guy who was sitting and started to notice he maybe fell off. Or did he wanted to do something else..

Dareynn watched the girl walk away out of the corner of his eye; she had said it was her first day. He'd figured the school was in the opposite way she was going; without thinking, he blurted, "You're going the wrong way."
Stunned by his outburst, he glared at the ground, hoping she didn't think that him telling her that meant he wanted to be her friend or something.

| Unintentional Drop "The wrong way?"" She said before she turned around to the guy again. "So do you know were we are? Wich way I need to go then?" Why did he even cared if she was going the wrong way. He was so mean to her, and now he was going to say she was following the wrong way. Or maybe it was a joke from him to make her confused even more. For a moment she glared to him, trying to see if he was going to laugh or anything. Then she would know it was a joke.
But he did not started to laugh or showing any other emotion then his angry mood and she sighed. "I'm really lost, so please don't make a joke of it."This was way more then what she normaly would tell to someone, but also this time her voice was not more then a wisper. Ow why coudn't she look alittle stronger, a little bit more confident.
Then she looked to the water again and before she noticed what she was doing. "Why were you in the water? Not just for swimming right.." After she said it and noticed what she was saying she started to blush and holded her hands for her mouth. Like if she wanted to prevent to say anything more stupid.

"I don't joke," Dareynn muttered, rolling his sapphire blue eyes. He looked at her from behind the curtain of ebony hair that shrouded his right eye, wondering why the girl was so timid. He didn't really care, it was just something to think about other than his eternal suffering.
When she asked why he was in the water, he almost didn't answer. He was somewhat relieved she hadn't seen him fall; it would have been embarassing, having someone see him just walk of the edge of the cliff like that. Anyone who knew him well (which was no one at the academy), would know he never would have done that intentionally. Sure, he was a masochist, but heights... He shuddered, wrapping his arms around his torso. He'd never be that masochistic. He still had nightmares about the airplane ride from Louisiana to Japan; it had been horrible.
Though it wasn't a very frequent nightmare, it was among his worst. The girl probably didn't think he was going to answer. Oh well, he told himself. The scared little girl might feel better if I told her I fell... But, then again, why do I care? He pondered this for a moment, then muttered, just loud enough for her to hear, "I fell."
Maybe he felt bad for her, seeing her so frightened. She almost reminded him of how he felt sometimes; so terrified he couldn't even speak, couldn't move even if his life depended on it.

| Unintentional Drop "You fell?" Finne was curious about it. How can someone just fell from a cliff like that. She did not dared to ask because she heard the tone in his voice and suddenly Finne had enough of this guy. She was trying to be nice, but he was refusing even a nice look to her and she folded her arms. "Why are you such a jerk?" Her voice was on a normal tone for a moment. If she was talking it mostly was on a whispering tone and if she was angry she talked on a normal tone. It would never pop up in her mind to raise her voice to someone. She did not even knew if she was able to yell.
"Have I done something wrong, to make you angry?" There was the whisper again before she looked down to the ground. Was it really something she wanted to know? What if she had done something wrong to him. But then again.. What would she have done wrong then. It was al so unclear for her.
Finne just couldn't force herself to walk away. Why did she stay there, trying to talk to him. There was something mysterious about this person, something she wanted to know..
He was so.. Interesting..

Dareynn rolled his eyes again at the girl's question. He almost said, "Did I stutter?", but thought better of it. He really didn't feel like talking to this girl. When she asked why he was such a jerk, he retorted, "Why are you such a scardy-cat?"
He didn't bother to answer the following question; she hadn't done anything, and, if she had a brain in her head, she would know that. He didn't even look at her; he figured if he ignored her, she would go away.
Another shiver ran up his spine as a cool breeze blew by; he'd have to take a hot shower when he got back inside, to make sure he didn't get sick. He stuck his hands into his pockets and hunched his shoulders, letting the tips of his fingers brush against his twelve inch dagger's hilt. He thought about drawing it, simply to look at it. He loved the way it looked in the dark; deadly, gleaming silver, almost glowing. He always had it with him; most of the time he had other knives, too; he had one strapped just above his wrist, hidden by the sleeves of his shirt.
Either the fall had loosened it, or he hadn't strapped it right earlier. It was biting into his skin. He really didn't mind; being able to feel the pain told him he didn't have hypothermia (yet), and...pain was almost comforting to him. Almost...
