A number of barriers keep all 52 universes separate, each universe having its own Source Wall. To destroy one wall could give chance to the destruction of more walls, leading to the destruction of all 52 universes. For this very purpose, the Wall(s) were made to be near impenetrable, trapping all those who tried to pass it by making them a part of the solid structure. However, being NEAR impenetrable is simply not enough.
A New God. Ruler of Apokolips. Power-hungry immortal bent on having power over all. Throughout his life he has had many encounters with the Wall; his goal to breach it has failed every time. Though through the years, he's evolved and so has his plans.
With the destruction of the wall, The Source knew the universe would be destroyed. To prevent an event that would start a chain reaction seeping into the other 51 universes, The Source acted. Cross the last of the 52 walls and enter a world unknown to even him.
On the other side, The Source drafted the help of the One-Above-All, creator of this new series of universes. The One-Above-All was at first reluctant to help, not desiring to interfere with the happenings of a new multiverse. Once he realized the proximity of their two realms it was evident that the ripples would at some point reach his own Multiverse. In an effort to save The Source's realm, both entities used their powers together to counteract the devastating destruction. In the event of these two Cosmic forces using their abilities together, their worlds were immediately drawn into one another as a side effect!
They all share the same space. Operate in the same cities. Prevent the same evils. Save the same Universe.
The damage is irreversible. They shall forever remain...
