for far too long i've been denied i'm making my move so just step aside
no one can say i never tried to do everything to get back my pride The way the book was tossed into the return box reflected exactly how Seto Kaiba felt about it. He hadn’t had a choice in reading it, one of the many on his advanced English class list and while he was already far ahead of the curriculum, Kaiba could say that about all his classes. Not only had Kaiba been born nearly a genius, his unforgiving step-father had burned almost more knowledge into him that he could retain. Unfortunately for him, Seto had lived up to everything Gozaburo had wanted. He'd memorized everything he'd been taught and how could he not with the physical abuse he would have received if he hadn't? Regardless, Gozaburo hadn't been very interested in Seto knowing much about literary classics. And that was why Seto was reading things he'd never read by choice. And why he was in search of another book he'd probably rather burn than digest.
Kaiba hadn't realized that his fingers had stilled on the line of books, eyes unfocused and unconscious of the shelf he was standing before. Irritated that he'd lost himself by remember what had been, cold eyes narrowed and his hand slipped to the next book over, ripping it off from it's place angrily. Midnight's Children. His lip curled, flipping the book over. He had a faint idea of what it was about, and the summary only made him despise the fact he had to read it more. "Magic." Seto hadn't realized he'd said it out loud, the word creating too much dislike for him to notice. Seto Kaiba was a realist. There was no such thing as magic. There were cheap parlor tricks and there were . . . no, that was about it. Cheap parlor tricks.
But what infuriated him more was that the summary made him think of Battle City. Of Ishizu and the Egyptian exhibit in the Domino City Museum. Talk of pharaoh's and priests, talk of magic and prophecies. That goddamn God Card he'd lost. He shook his head slightly, turning the book back over and studying it for a moment. Perhaps he'd grab something he'd enjoy reading for once. Knowing all the curriculum this school and the one in Domino had made it quite a bore to sit through classes. He was furthest ahead in English due to the fact that he read during all the rest of his classes. Of course, keeping up with that wasn't so hard. Letting out a breath, Seto set the book on a nearby table and moved down another aisle in search of something that wouldn't make him sick reading.

Books, books and more books. This was the one place no one would thought, Iramaki Rikka would be, that was why she decided to hide here today. She got detention from the tennis court due to an event a few days ago that was completely not her fault. After all, why did the team get the whole court to themselves? They didn't rent it or anything so what gave them that right? Nothing that's what! They just decided to do it for completely no reason which pissed her off. If they had a good reason she would have done it but the only reason the coach gave her was because it was the team's day. When was that stated? It was no where on the calendar after all, it was as if they just decided it for no reason other than to get on her nerve. Really, that coach got guts cause after she's through with him, he would be on his knees begging for forgiveness, she just knew it.
It wasn't soon when she caught a sight of a certain famous individual. Seta Kaiba, the teen that was known for owning a gaming company. She never exactly knew how the card game caught on as she never even bothered to play it. She saw a couple people played it before though but never really say much about it. She could care less about little card games that people were so hyped over. Either way, the game caught on without her and he got rich for creating holograms of it. Really, why would they make hologram card games? What, if she was playing goldfish she would go ahead and want to see hologram of the card passing to her? People these days will just buy anything won't them? She sighed at that, really, how hard is it to trick people with these simple commercial she was sure a middle school student could make.
Still, she was interested in Kaiba for one reason and one reason only. The fact that she heard of how he thinks that he is better than anyone and that he could prove it. Really, she would like to see that. Someone better than her? That like saying the sun comes up in the night or that her twin was the dominant one. It was simply impossible, no one could be better than her, no one. No one was, is or will ever be better than her. Why? The answer was simple, she was just too good. She was the best at everything, she got it all, good grades, good looks, money, and a great personality. She had heard it over and over after all but to hear someone that state he was better than her? Hah, she would like to see that.
Arms crossed with a smug smile on her face, he walked over with a small book and bonked him on the head. She didn't care what reaction he would have as long as she got his attention."Oh, so you're Seto Kaiba." he stated without even bothering to introduce herself.

for far too long i've been denied i'm making my move so just step aside
no one can say i never tried to do everything to get back my pride Just his luck, Seto wasn't finding anything that looked remotely interesting. Row after row were books only the idiots in the geek squad would enjoy. Or some of the people here that aspired to be them. He brushed his bangs out his eyes and crouched down, giving one last attempt at the books on the lower shelves. Kaiba wasn't exactly in the mood to spend a long period of time searching. If he didn’t find one soon, he’d run out of patience and start the hunt up again some other time. He had plenty of other things to fill his time, work for his company, more classes to tune out, and – Seto paused again, trying to think of what it was Mokuba had wanted him to do for him. If that kid didn’t change his mind so much, Seto would have an easier time keeping track of what he wanted. Ah well. He could always just ask him if he didn’t -
The book to the head did not help him to remember. In fact, it did the opposite, making him forget that he was supposed to remember. The action was enough to tint his vision red. Seto was clearly already in a foul mood, but to be hit like a misbehaved pet, like he and whoever this person had some bond that allowed them to do shit like this without getting retribution . . . It was unthinkable. Seto was standing as the voice announced it knew his name. He turned, blue eyes cold as ice as they had to turn down to find the speaker. She was much shorter than him (though most people were), so much so he had to tilt his head downward to fully see her in such a close range. Far too close for his comfort. One slender eyebrow rose, hiding behind his bangs. “Do you greet everyone so formally?” His voice was liquid sarcasm, his bitterness bare.
Kaiba wasn't kind enough to pretend he knew her. He probably didn't know her because she was either a nobody or a brat like Yugi's tag-along, epitome of friendship. Without realizing it, his lip curled slightly at the remembrance of her constant spew about friends. Much like Yugi's rants about hearts in cards. And because he didn't realize it, he didn't realize that he was doing it to the girl, his eyes locked with hers. After his once over, he rolled his eyes, turning back to the shelves. He'd already looked over the books here but it didn't matter. Anything to make her disheartened enough to leave him alone. Fuck his life for posing his words as a question.
God, he hated human interaction.

“Do you greet everyone so formally?”
As Seto spoke, Rikka glared back into those icy cold abyss. She wasn't scared of him, she wasn't scared of anyone. Fear was not n her vocabulary at all, that is except for ghosts and horror movies but no one knew that. At least no one but he brother, although she was sure that he wouldn't tell anyone about that. After all, he was so obedient to her that he wouldn't do anything she didn't want him to do. That was how good he wast o her as he was far too kind and besides, if he does threaten her, she could always go ahead and cry about it. That always gets him to go on her side like the puppy that he was. Though that isn't to say that she thinks of him as her little dog. She likes him as a brother too, it's just that he always acts like a dog so she couldn't help it but compare him to one. Well actually it was either a dog or sheep and she was pretty sure a dog was better than a sheep."Yeah? Why, do you need to go to the nurses office now?" she retorted.
Only he just turned back to the shelf. What was with this guy? Did he just ignore her? No! No! There was no way he was ignoring no. No f***ing that he had just ignored her! That imbecilic! This idiotic mutiny! Once again she hit him on the head only this time she made sure that it was harder. Although she still held back, didn't want him to faint on her now. She stared at him for a bit but didn't even wait for his reaction. This guy was testing her patience. "Hey! Who said you could ignore your queen?" she asked, obviously angry. Yeah, there was no way she was going to act innocent with this guy.
God, he was the worst kind on Earth. He was a snob and arrogant! How in the world did he get friends? He was the worst kind on earth! Seriously, how in the world did this guy live like that, acting as if she was nothing? Arms crossed, she kicked him at the shin as well, her eyes narrowed. No one ignores her and get away with it. Geez, rich arrogant kids are the worst, it was a good thing she wasn't one of them.

no one can say i never tried to do everything to get back my pride Kaiba couldn’t stop the second eye roll if he tried. Honestly? Was she a child? He didn’t even bother to look at her, let alone retort. Hopeful his indifference would cause her to lose her most likely short attention span and find someone who cared enough to deal with her. However, nothing seemed to be going right today as she did not do that. In fact, the little bitch had the nerve to hit him with the book for a second time, this time hard enough to force his head foreword and nearly hit the shelf in front of him.
If his vision had been slightly pink before it was a murderous red now. He whipped around to face her, only to connect his knee with her goddamn shoe. Fortunately, he looked down in time to cover the quick betrayal of pain. Livid, he found her angry gaze with one twice as mad and reached out, grabbing the wrist of the hand that was holding her weapon. His free hand moved forward and yanked it from her hand. He let it drop to the floor between them, resisting the itching in his palm to slap her. His grip was tight enough to refuse any movement, and dark eyes glared at her. It was only then that the words she had said registered.
“My what?” He hissed the word between gritted teeth, unconsciously bending slightly toward her slightly. The grip on her arm tightened and he could feel her skin pinching between his and her bone. It was taking all his energy to not give into the temptation to strike her. A queen? Seto Kaiba served no one. Who the hell did she think she was? A no-name brat with a god complex. How many people like her had he met? And they all at least had something backing them. If it was minuscule. When he managed to speak again without raising his voice, the sound was strained, no part of his irritation shielded from her ears. “You are not a “queen.” You are a nuisance.” He punctuated his last word by releasing her hand and wiping his hand on the leg of his uniform. As if she was diseased, as if she was a disease herself.
He didn’t turn away this time, not because he wanted to continue the conversation but because he wanted to watch her leave it. Seto was also quite adamant on not giving her another chance to attack him. Leave.

Seto's reaction was nothing Rikka had expected at all. It had honestly caught her off guard as he grabbed her hand. She struggled to get away but his grip was too strong. After her 'weapon' was disposed up, she stepped her foot on it to make sure that the guy didn't see what it was. After all she didn't want people to know that she likes to read a certain type of books. They would look down on her and she had a reputation to uphold after all. Since, she was the school's queen and she can't have her subjects thinking she is no better than them. After all, she was perfection, there was nothing that could make her go down on her horse. “You are not a “queen.” You are a nuisance.”What? She stood there for a moment as he let go of her, her hand involuntarily rubbing on the sore spot but she didn't even care about that. No queen? Okay, she will forgive him for ignoring her and even grabbing her hand without her permission but when he went as far as denying her reign, that was just going too far! She was the leader of his this school after all so how in the world can he just state that she wasn't a queen? That's like saying he wasn't a man. Something was wrong with him. Was he sick or something? Idiot. That's what he was, just an idiot, a big tall idiot but still. This time though he didn't turn around so at least now she won't have to hit him to get his attention. She folded her arms and pouted as he waited for him to apologize for his insubordination. Really, how in the world can he just say that? Her toes started to tap on the ground, an obvious sign that she was getting impatient. Was this guy going to catch on? Her head turned towards the clock to see that it had only been five minutes since she's been here. Time was ticking by slowly but she will wait for eternity for that guy to apologize to her. Maybe even beg and grovel. The thought made her smile a bit, a sight of a man that tall begging on his knees and groveling at her feet. That was a sight that she knew would really make her enjoy each and every moment of this. "I'm waiting." she retorted still keeping that high air. Well she was going to wait for him until he apologizes but that didn't meant that she couldn't sped it up.

for far too long i've been denied i'm making my move so just step aside
no one can say i never tried to do everything to get back my pride She wasn’t going to leave, was she? Of course not. Why would she? She seemed out to ruin as much of his day as she could. If he wasn’t as full of himself as she was, he probably would have pushed past her and left. Unfortunately, not only was she likely followed, Kaiba would have felt like he was giving in to her. That was the last thing he wanted to do. Like her, his pride and ego kept him standing before her. Refusal to back down kept him a conversation he wanted nothing to do with. He hoped she’d say something that would make his exit her defeat and not a self-inflicted wound to his pride. Kaiba was better than her at this game. It wouldn’t strain him (beyond resisting hitting her) to win.
Seto’s head tilted slightly, pupils tightening in his anger. After a heavy silence, she spoke again, ever-demanding. He could guess what she wanted. However, he’d rather have her admit it. Pretending he didn’t know made it worse for her. Not only had he verbally reduced her to the brat that she was, he didn’t feel he’d overstepped any boundaries. His hand set on his hip arrogantly, staring down at her with a look that emphasized his previous comment that she was nobody. “Waiting for what, exactly?” While still cold, there was a faint note of sarcasm, a slight upward tilt to the set of his lips.
He visibly mimicked her, glancing at the clock. His lip curled slightly and he turned back, crossing his arms over his chest. His chin tilted up slightly. “I don’t have time for you to be stupid.” Kaiba’s words were sharp and demeaning, like he was the King and she was his subordinate. In his eyes, that’s how it was. As much as he hated to admit it, there was only one person in the world that could beat him at anything and it certainly wasn’t this child. Seto was going to knock her off her high horse before she even knew what was happening.

“Waiting for what, exactly?”
Dang, are all rich boy stupid? Although there was a small hint of sarcasm in his voice, she decided that she could always use to to her advantage. A smirk plastered on her lips she retorted."So you are as stupid as I heard." The arrogant smirk still on her eyes stared back at his without any fear. Although she had to admit, the eyes were kind of intimidating but she wasn't going to back out on this. Backing out was something this guy was going to do whether he likes it or not. Chances are though he won't like it but will she care? A little because him not liking it as actually part of the fun for her. Really, she was so demonic but she likes it that way. After all she is Iramaki Rikka, school president and the queen of this school. To uphold her reign, she will make this guy back down and see just how much better she is than him.
“I don’t have time for you to be stupid.”
Those words made her smirk turn into a grin."Yeah, stated by the guy who was stupid enough to hold a little card game tournament and then lost it in front of national television. What, couldn't beat someone in a game of Go Fish?" she asked obviously in making an attempt to hurt his pride. It was always the place she aimed at with these rich idiots. Really, how in the world can he act so tough when he lost in a card game that he held himself. Just what in the world was he thinking? There was a reason why he was infamous and to her it had nothing to do with his attitude, it had to do with the fact that he is a grown man obsessed with a card game that wasn't even poker! If it was poker or black jack where one can gamble their money than maybe she would have more respect for him but that wasn't the case at all. He just wanted to play a card game and be the champion on it. What a poor poor teen.
"Seriously, it's not that hard to play Go Fish. And it's just a game." she stated. After a moment she decided to add something else."I'm pretty sure your parents would be disappointed in you holding your little card game as an attempt to become the best at something that the world doesn't even care about." he stated. After all, she knew her parents would be disappointed in her if that was the case so it should be the same for him. Really, even his cousin was better than him, at least she didn't play card games and knew when to follow orders.

for far too long i've been denied i'm making my move so just step aside
no one can say i never tried to do everything to get back my pride Her first comment resulted in nothing but a snort. As if. He doubted anyone was stupid enough to call him stupid. He had been top in his class in Domino and he was top of his class here. He knew all the material better than the teachers and a hundredfold better than any student. Even hated, Kaiba could not be deemed stupid. She was lying through her teeth and they both knew it. Perhaps him better than her. However, the little bitch decided to elaborate. She summed up Battle City in one sentence – a sentence completely off the mark. His eyes flashed, furious at her comment and her reference of Duel Monsters to Go Fish. She was begging to be disciplined.
Besides the anger, no other emotion slipped through his stoic mask. She was stepping on lines that shouldn’t be crossed. His inability to beat Yugi Motou, God Cards, Duel Monsters as a whole. He cut the anger in his eyes out of his tone, making it casual, almost like a lecture. Like teaching a child the basics of speech. “It’s called Duel Monsters.” His free hand moved to brush hair of his eyes. He was changing the subject only slightly. Seto didn’t particularly want to go over Battle City again. He’d rather let that ghost alone. “The concept would obviously be lost on you.” The last thing he wanted was to explain it to her. He wasn’t going to justify it in her eyes. No, she’d never understand. You could be rational to irrational people.
Her comment about his parents made him blink, startled. So she didn’t know everything as she thought. The words kicked in, bringing up things no longer important, things long since past. Kaiba hadn’t meant to laugh, but the chuckle he couldn’t suppress grew into loud mirth. Gozaburo! Oh, he was rolling in his fucking grave, wasn’t he? Had been, since the day his adopted son had pulled KaibaCorp out from underneath his bloodied hands. Since Seto had converted KaibaCorp away from arms manufacturing and into what it was today. What she was trying to say didn’t wound him at all. He couldn’t care less about what his adoptive father would have wanted. More of the world cared about Duel Monsters than she thought, his billion-dollar corporation proved it. An outsider glancing in could not understand. He smirked down at her, arrogance rolling off him in waves. “If he hadn’t killed himself, I can assure you he would.” There was no bitterness in his voice, no self-pity that he did not have a father, let alone an adopted one. However, he doubted she would take it as lightly as he did. Unless she was as heartless as she seemed.
Go Fish, indeed.

“It’s called Duel Monsters.”
Duel Monsters, so that's what it's called her. It still sounded stupid to her. Mainly because it came out of Seto's mouth though. Rikka didn't even do anything about it and simply stood there. Yeah, Duel Monsters, that name sounded like it was stupid already. After all what kind of name is that? Monsters don't duel each other with honor, they just beat each other up. Even more was that it sounded more like a video games then a card game. The advertisers must had been really desperate or something to have gone this far. Seriously. She was able to hold the urge to roll his eyes at his little correction. God, talk about having no life, it was just a card game. She never knew rich arrogant mean could be nerdy too but the person in front of her has really proven her wrong.
“The concept would obviously be lost on you.”
Concept? Okay, now he was really going too far with this card game. It's a game, the concept is to win. Besides, it was just a card game anyway, it wasn't like someone can die just because they lost to someone in card game anyway. He really needed to get a new hobby bt she doubt he ever will if he had his company franchising such a game. Talk about a waste of money, and she meant by the people who bought those cards. She have got to go to his hometown just to see how stupid it is. After all, it was one thing to play card games, she could understand that but for a card game to have a concept? Why couldn't he just say rule or something? It was just a card game made by a man who had nothing better to do with his time and got lucky. It was like digging for oil, only bored or desperate people do it and if they were lucky they would strike oil.
“If he hadn’t killed himself, I can assure you he would.”
At those thoughts, the girl looked away for a moment with a small smile on her face. Uhmm, kill himself? She can see why. Who would want to be related to this guy? The thought made her chuckle just like he had at her comment but it wasn't out of revenge, it was rather at the fact that she would have done the same thing. After all, this guy made a company for card games that wasn't even his own. Although she had to admit, the idea of holograms sounded like a lot of fun. After all it was hologram. Still, she wasn't going to say anything about that due to the fact that she wasn't that evil and conniving. She is able to hit low but not go too far especially if the person was dead. She had her limits, something that not many would consider her to have.
"You do know that Duel Monsters is just a game right?" she asked, this time she lost her little arrogant air. Rather it sounded more like she thought he was weird to which she did. It was one thing to talk lightly of dead parents since she was sure that some parents were pretty bad but to talk highly of card games. Yeah...maybe this guy needed therapy. She would even gladly pay it for him."Do you get this excited over Go Fish as well?" she asked and in her head she could see him jumping up and down being arrogant for getting one pair. The thought made her chuckle some more and soon it became a full out laugh. The sight was just far too funny in her mind.

for far too long i've been denied i'm making my move so just step aside
no one can say i never tried to do everything to get back my pride Her laughter at his comment about his father was, albeit surprising, but not enough make him show it. He expected a retort, but he supposed that’s what he giggle had been. What it meant to say was lost on him half because he wasn’t a mind reader, half because he honestly didn’t care. Whatever it was, it would probably kill off a few of his brain cells and despite the vast amount he had, he did find it painful to lose them. Perhaps she could find friendship, or rather, servitude in the geek squad. More specifically, Jounouchi. The brat princess and her loyal mutt. He felt himself smirking and didn’t bother to hide it. Let her think what she will, it made no matter to him.
She interrupted his thoughts by more talk of a game she knew nothing about. He shook his head, slightly exasperated by this pointless talk. "Yes, I am quite aware." He said dryly, deciding to emphasize verb rather than the noun. The last thing she needed was to hear there were people that thought it changed the fate of the world. He barely needed to hear that. She had very little to use against him and he wasn’t going to give her anything to add to the small list. He didn’t want to interact with her now. He’d give her no reason to come back in the future.
And for the hundredth time she mentioned Go Fish. He couldn’t even remember the last time he’d played that stupid game. Probably in the orphanage with Mokuba, or late at night in the early days of their lives in the Kaiba home. If her remembered correctly – which he rarely didn’t – the game consisted of tedious begging for cards and ‘fishing’ for cards when you were greated with a ‘no’ disguised as ‘go fish.’ That would be a game she would find enjoyment in. “I’m afraid not. You’ll have to find an opponent in someone else,” he replied, turning the table on her. She talked about it quite obsessively. How often did she play it?
Seto inhaled, the musky scent of stale air and old books, strangely calming. He exhaled a bit louder than normal after a beat. The look in his eyes was a bit dead, as if she was close to putting him to sleep. “I’m quite happy you started a conversation aimed to go nowhere.” The sarcasm made his words fall heavily, each syllable coated in it. He hadn’t wanted to talk to her in the first place. Seto didn’t want to talk to anyone. The brat princess could assuredly find someone else to kiss her damn feet. He was sure there were people who played along with her child’s game. He, however, would not. Even in some impossible incident that it meant his life or his submissive, he’d rather die than give in to her. His parents, what about hers? Or were the cause of it and consequently pawns in her warped reality? It would be fitting for having stunted with world with such a child.

“I’m afraid not. You’ll have to find an opponent in someone else,”
Yeah, that what he says now. Rikka stared at hm for a moment, she highly doubt that he didn't jump up and down, at least on the inside he might. She stared at him for a moment the image still fresh in her mind and it won't leave her alone. Seriously, why won't it leave her alone? Well she knew why but she couldn't help but wonder. After all it was funny but she can usually dispose of it like she does with everything else. Whatever, she'll let the image stay in her head for now. She knew she would forget about it eventually, or at least hopefully it would. Although hopefully he does that since it would entertain her. Even more was that it would means that he has some emotion. Really, this guy needed some, hmm maybe he was a robot. That would make sense seeing how he barely have any emotions.
“I’m quite happy you started a conversation aimed to go nowhere.”
"Are you a robot?" she asked not even bothering with his comment. What can she say, she was curious and she had to figure it out.

no one can say i never tried to do everything to get back my pride Kaiba blinked, startled. Had that actually just come out of her mouth? Seriously, no less? He managed to compose himself after a beat, but the mix of bewilderment and disgust refused to leaves his eyes. “Are you an idiot?” He fired back, rhetorically. He wouldn’t doubt that she’d answer anyway. Honestly, if she could be substituted for anyone, even the mutt, he’d graciously accept it. At least the dog knew when it had lost. Or had enough sense to back down.
What Seto failed to realize was the similarities they had, because each of them were points he hated about her. Certain traits couldn’t be shared by two people and allow them to get along well unless there was a give-and-take sort of relationship. There could be no one king or queen and certainly no servitude found in the other. However, they had no relationship what-so-ever except a mutual annoyance. That didn’t pose to get them anywhere. In the end, that was fantastic. Seto didn’t want anything to do with her. His teeth bore slightly as he spoke again. “Have you had your fill?” He'd had much more of it than he cared for.

“Are you an idiot?”
Curiosity and interest left her eyes at those words, in their place was anger. What? Couldn't he had just said 'no'? Besides, there are things that would make sense if he was a robot but instead he was just a sorry excuse for a human. Really, how bad can this guy be? She wasn't amazed to see that he wasn't in a relationship, seriously. If this guy ever have a girlfriend it would be someone either dumb who likes money, or someone who is as thickheaded, annoying, pompous and arrogant as him! Even then though they wouldn't have a god relationship. This guy needed to get out or else his girlfriend will have to learn how to play Go Fish...or was it Duel Monsters? She wasn't sure really and just kept quiet for now, it made things easier.
“Have you had your fill?”
"Not until you apologize for your arrogance." she answered quickly."And maybe beg and grovel at my feet." those words slipped out of her mouth but it was a good thing that it came out only a bit louder than a whisper. Who knows, maybe if his auditory sensors ears didn't pick it up. She wasn't sure how well his ears were after all. The thought made her smirk a bit, yeah she was pretty sure that he was a robot. Actually she was a hundred percent sure! She stared down on her feet that was still on the book for a moment. Well now that she knew his pet peeve, she really had to make sure that he didn't know hers. After all, if words got out that she likes fairy tale books, she would lose the fear that she spent years building up and that was something she really rather avoid.
Besides, she couldn't really leave the library anyway since she didn't know the way back to the dorms. Although she heard that she was going to change dorms soon too which means she'll be lost again and she might not be near her twin. So in the end, she wouldn't really be able to leave the libation but oh well at least she can annoy Seto a.k.a. mister card games.

for far too long i've been denied i'm making my move so just step aside
no one can say i never tried to do everything to get back my pride If she hadn’t overstayed the welcome she’d never had, Kaiba would have laughed. He would have laughed in ridicule and in amusement that she still found herself so high. What did she have to sit on? Money she had not worked for and perhaps a family she had lucked into being born to? And her own pride, of course. That could not be forgotten. But in every way, in everything she could falsely call her own, Seto had her beat. Unfortunately for her, she embarrassed herself by not grasping that fact. She could not win against him because he was superior in every fashion. She could beg for an apology as many times as she wanted, besides annoyance it only boosted his own ego. So ask again, brat princess.
Just as well, Seto smirked broadly, one corner slightly higher than the other. The look was the epitome of the very arrogance she demanded an apology for. “Don’t be naïve.” It was all he needed to say but certainly not all he was going to say. He didn’t know the meaning of letting others off “easy.” Not when she’d answered too fast, not when she’d mumbled, not when her head was down in her own silent apology. He relished in her, perhaps, unintended submission. Seto had known the outcome of this battle from the beginning. Still, he felt no pity at her defeat. Maybe because his heart was too sizes too small.
And he continued, rubbing dirt in any wounds that he had opened over the course of their meeting. “You deserve nothing and I will give it to you in abundance. Begging for forgiveness has never been my style.” Despite the grin, his demeanor was cold. Ice in his eyes, frigid in pose: Seto Kaiba offered no refuge from the bite of his words. He had nothing to apologize for and he would not pretend to make her feel better. She had picked a fight with the wrong person. A lesson could be learned but he doubted she would find it or even heed it.
“Perhaps you can find someone else to lick your wounds.”
