Neku walked down the hallway with his bags from his old dorms. There were new dorm assignments for him. He had moved out of his old dorm that he had shared with his sister to which he wasn't sure if it was a good thing or not since now he was going to have to remember the way to both his new room and either his old one or a new one that she might get. He wasn't exactly sure but he wasn't really thrilled about it either way. Wait, was he thrilled about it? After all he won't be bossed around as much but at the same time the person he rooms with might be worse than his sister. Not so sure on what to think, his pace slowed down a bit. He still continued to walk down his path though as he tried his best to get rid of this thoughts.
He made a left turn just like his mind as he decided to ponder about something else. It was Summer and strangely he wasn't at home. The main reason why was because his sister stated that she didn't want to lose all the work she had done on him, but in all honesty did her work really do much other than him being ordered around? He still doesn't really have an opinion and he was also failing one of his classes, art. He never really knew what to draw or how to draw things. The only reason why he took was again because his sister told him to. Apparently she didn't want to be alone in that class and in a way she wanted someone she knew to be in there, someone she could have control of. In a way she was a control freak or at least that was what people called her but he didn't mind it one bit.
He made it to his destination. Slowly he opened the door to see that the previous owners had packed out their stuff already. The room was pretty much empty except for what the school already have for it, two beds, two desks and a light. Slowly he laid his bag on one of the beds. He wasn't so sure on which one to pick namely because his new roommate might want a specific one and he didn't want to start off on the wrong foot. When the thought came into his mind he took his bag and put it down on the floor so it didn't look like he had picked a side yet.
A sigh escaped his lips at the empty room. It wasn't really that big but he had to admit, it felt big. He was used to having Rikka talking to him about her day right now and trying to give him what she calls 'his own mind'. Although technically he did have a mind of his own, it was called a brain and it was how he can functioned. After all every human have their own brain and the brain can be considered a mind. It was the only defense he got when she stated that he wasn't really thinking for himself. After all it wasn't like if he waited for her to tell him to breathe to actually do it. For some reason though the technicality always angered her more.
He shook his head at that thought. What in the world was he thinking? It wasn't like he was never going to see his sister again. He forced some chuckles out. Yet for some reason he felt a bit lonely not hearing her loud voice yelling out to him. It was one of the rare times where she would show her true self, a loud girl. She would also share some secrets with him like how she was afraid of ghosts and how she love to read fairy tales. There were times where she would have nightmares and so he would read it to her even though she was sixteen. Maybe it was just something older brothers feel. Yeah that was most likely it. Slowly he stared at the clock and waited for his roommate to come through the door.

Dareynn slunk down the hall, his jaw set and his tattered black (now nearly gray) duffel over his shoulder. The strap was duct taped in several places, keeping it together. He hadn't gotten a new duffel since he was five, when his step-father had sent him to his grandparent's house for the weekend.
His steps were quiet on the carpet, hardly making any noise at all. Had he wanted, he could have been completely silent, but he was too distracted to worry about trivial things such as silence at the moment. If he were home, that could have been a fatal mistake. His step-father had forced him to be quiet, beating or cutting him if he hadn't been. Even his voice was quiet, when he did speak at all; most times it held anger, too, another thing his step-father had forced into his habits.
His sapphire blue eyes glanced up at the doors every now and again to check the numbers, their depths hiding pains most could never imagine. When he reached the door that led to the room he had been assigned, he paused.
Did he really want to go in, and meet the person they had stuck him with? He almost felt bad for the guy who had to share a room with him, a feeling he have often. Gritting his teeth, he opened the door, cringing slightly when it squeaked metallicly. That would have to be fixed. He liked silence.
His roommate was all ready there, standing by a bag that looked much better than his own. Not that he cared; his battered, falling-apart duffel was familiar, unlike most things at the school. Even though he'd attended it for three years, he didn't know many people and wasn't very willing to meet any.
He shut the door quietly behind him, wondering if the guy had picked a bed yet or not. Dareynn preferred the one away from the window, but if his roommate and picked that one... Well, he'd just sleep underneath the other one. He'd done it before.
He was expecting the guy's first comment to be something along the lines of, "You look like a freak" or "What's with the freaky outfit".

Hmm, the door opened while Neku was a bit out of it as his thoughts were still haunting him. When the door opened or rather when he realized the door had opened revealing the person he was pretty sure was going to be his roommate. The person though looked like the opposite of him. His bag was not exactly 'new' looking and even more was that he didn't really say or do anything yet. He stared at him for a moment before he put out the usual light smile he usually held."Hello. I'm Iramaki Neku, nice to meet you." he greeted but he didn't take off his hat or anything. That was reserved for girls only since his parents taught him that girls always like boys to go the extra mile. He never understood why but innocence was a bliss was it not?
The room was a bit quiet. It felt strange but that might be because he was used to someone telling him about themselves. He never really talked about himself much other than introduction. In a way that made him mysterious but it wasn't because he was antisocial. Well maybe in a way he was, he's not so sure anyway. He isn't sure if anything, well other than the fact that he was pretty sure the statement was true anyway. Then again wouldn't that count as something? He lightly shook his head at his thoughts."Which bed would you like?" he asked. It would be best for the roommate to pick the bed since he was fine with either one.
In the back of his mind, he can hear his sister yelling at him on how he was here first and that he should pick the bed. He quickly dismissed it though. He was most likely going to have to check on his sister and most likely apologize for her before hand. After all he knew she was going to cause trouble, it was an ability she was born with. In a way, she was the goddess of chaos, but he was able to put up with it. Although he can't say for whoever her new roommate would be.
Now wasn't exactly the time to think about that. He should try to find out what his new roommate is like first. With that he decided to take off his coat. It was hot n here and the person probably thought that this outfit style was strange. After all it wasn't exactly Japanese but rather something imported from England. It was something his sister made him do so she wouldn't feel like an outcast and as usual he agreed to it.

Dareynn looked at his roommate, surprised that he looked relatively American. (Though he really shouldn't have been, being American himself.) "Dareynn," he replied in a low monotone. He wasn't sure what else to say to the guy; sure, he'd been moved from dorm to dorm tons of times (four times last year, in fact...), but he never really knew what to do when meeting a new roommate.
When the guy, Neku, asked which bed he wanted, he blinked. Normally whoever he roomed with just sort of told him which bed he got; this threw him off-balance. "The one opposite the window," he replied, his monotone slightly less...monotone.
He set his bag down cautiously, watching the guy from the corner of his eye. His hair his his face, so he couldn't see him well, but he was visible enough for Dareynn to know if he was going to hit him or something; he'd had that happen, too.
To say the least, he wasn't thrilled with sharing a dorm. Last year, the principal had grown tired of trying to find a roommate for him and had just given him his own room. Without saying anything, he sat on the bed, folding his long legs up close to his chest and stared at the floor, waiting for the other guy to do something.

"Dareynn,"
There was no way that name was Japanese or even Asian for that matter. The name sounded American to Neku. Was he a transfer student? He didn't really ask though but what he found strange wast hat the guy only gave out his first name. He highly doubt his roommate was an orphan or else he would have gone to a public school, that is unless the principal felt sorry for him or something like that. He wasn't exactly sure since he had never really met the principal himself. His voice was quiet too so that meant that he must be shy. In other words, the shouldn't really force Dareynn to talk too much or else it might scare him. He gave a reassuring smile for a bit as he often did with shy girls.
"The one opposite the window,"
The teen nodded at the answer and moved his bag to the bed near the window. He didn't know why his new roommate wanted to be far from the window but he didn't care much. After all, it was probably because he wanted to get some good sleep and that meant no burning sun staring directly at him though the small gaps of the curtains. He slowly grabbed his clothes out and put it on the hangers before he put that into the closet.
The room remained silent pretty much but that didn't really amaze him. After all,he had expected the room to be quiet seeing Dareynn's reaction which was why he didn't say anything much. Guess it was one of those moments were one would just live and let live.Although the quiet did bother him a bit as he wasn't used to it. He was far too used to his sister and the idea of changing wasn't exactly pleasant to him. After all, old habits die hard."So what year are you?" he asked as he turned to give the person he was talking to direct eye contact. It was polite to look at the person you're talking to. Even more was that he wanted to measure the guy and see if it was a good idea to talk to him or not.
The guy looked around his age but that didn't really say much. Even more was that he looked kind of like a mess with his hair over his eyes but then again, it wasn't like Neku couldn't say the same thing about himself. His golden orbs stared at the bag again. It was quite obvious they weren't on the same level when it comes to wealth which meant one thing to him. Never let his sister meet the guy or else she will cause trouble. He just knew it.

Dareynn turned his head to look at the guy when he spoke to him. Why was he so chatty? Most people ignored his existance. He loathed being noticed. "Third," he murmured. He'd never had a problem with school; he liked the academic part of it. It was the students that made him not want to attend.
He'd even skipped as many days as he could last year without having to stay back a grade; he'd gotten high marks, so it didn't matter much. If he'd failed, that would have been a problem. He preferred teaching himself, anyway; some teachers made the material hard to understand, and he hated that.
He didn't bother to ask what year Neku was; he didn't really care. He figured, Why should I get to know someone when they're going to kick me out in a week? He'd never shared a dorm with someone for more than two months, and that person had been gone most of the time, off with some girl; he'd never heard the same name twice when his roommate would come back and blabber on about his night.
Shifting slightly so his back was against the wall, Dareynn kicked off his beat-up black Converse and set them neatly at the end of the bed. If there was anything worse than having to share a dorm, he thought, it would be sharing a messy dorm.

"Third,"
Neku nodded at his words, so they were in the same year then? He wasn't exactly sure but he decided to go ahead and just nod. It would be best after all. seeing the person didn't like to talk. It would be best if he went ahead and be quiet. The person didn't seem like he wanted to talk after all so it would be best not to force him. He kept his smile up seeing there wasn't really that much he can do. After all there wasn't really that much to say anyway. It was like they didn't have anything in common at all, or at least they didn't have anything they could even talk about. The two couldn't argue even if they wanted to.
The thought was quite strange but he decided not to dwell on it too long. Once he was done with his stuff he sat on his bed. The room was pretty silent to the point where he could only hear the clock ticking in the background forever going back and forth. {Sorry, not that much muse right now.}

//I'ts fine. XP I know how you feel.// Dareynn sighed quietly; he'd expected the guy to ask another question. He almost asked a question himself, but thought better of it; he didn't want to make the guy think he was up for chatting. Anything he asked Neku to share about himself he would probably expect Dareynn to share, which he definitely did not want to do.
The clock was the only noise in the room; he didn't mind it. He counted the ticks for two minutes, closing his eyes. One, two, three... He'd often just sat and counted at night, seeing how long silence would last. That was how he'd fallen asleep most nights, if his step-father hadn't screamed at his mother or at the television and scared him so bad he had to start all over again.
Just thinking about his step-father made Dareynn's hands clench into fists and his teeth grind. He held his breath for seven seconds, then let it out for another count of seven. Drawing in a breath for the same ammount of time, he relaxed his hands. He didn't know why or when he'd chosen seven; he just had. Giving himself a mental shaking, he leaned over the edge of the bed briefly, just long enough to shove his duffel under his bed. He never bothered to unpack it; he had so few items it really wasn't worth the trouble.

Hmm?"Are you okay?" Neku asked. He wasn't exactly sure if the guy would even answer him though seeing how quiet he was. Part of him was starting to miss Rikka yelling at him to make up his mind and then asking him if he was truly sure if it was something someone told him. At least then, he could talk and he was pretty much used to it. Even though he longed for quiet and peace, he was starting to have way too much of it. The reason why he even appreciated silence was because it was so rare to come by. Now he was starting to miss people talking just about anything really.
Slowly he placed the bag onto the ground next to his bed. He wasn't exactly sure if he should go ahead and walk up to him or not. The guy might not appreciated after all. He scratched the back of his head for a moment. Was he having a headache? Sick? He wasn't exactly sure and so he just stood there. Unsure of what to say as the clock continued to tick. Tick tock tick tock. The sound rang in his ears and echoed as it repeated.
Golden orbs still on the same target he decided it would be best to walk over to the person."If you don't want to talk about it don't, but are you sick or something? If you are, you should go to the nurse." he stated and soon his eyes caught the bag. It wasn't exactly unpacked."I can unpack the rest of your stuff if you want." he offered.

Dareynn looked up when Neku asked if he felt ill. He blinked, surprised that he had even noticed his temporary change in attitude. He wasn't rude about it, either... huh. Odd guy. He shook his head slowly, then said, "No... Just...thinking."
When Neku offered to unpack for him, his jaw almost dropped. As it was, his eyes widened a bit. "I...don't unpack," he said quietly, wondering what odd thing the guy would say next. Surely he couldn't get any odder than he was being all ready? Maybe...maybe sharing a room with him wouldn't be too horrible.
After a moment, Dareynn leaned back against the wall again and stuck his right hand into his pocket, drawing out his twelve-inch-long dagger. As the only thing worth any monetary value he owned, he treasured it. The hilt was silver, the blade iron; there was a single ruby set in the base of the blade, and two snakes formed the hand guard. He'd taken it out of his pocket with the sheath still on it; it was nothing special, just a plain black cover. He set it next to him on the bed, wondering what Neku thought of him carrying concealed weapons. (Well, as of right now, he only knew about the dagger... Eventually he'd find out about the others. Maybe.)

"No... Just...thinking."
Well that was somewhat good. It's a good thing Dareynn's body was ill or anything but at the same time it was pretty bad. Apparently he didn't have that much of a good childhood or something to be like this. Was he remembering it? What was his childhood like? What was his parents like? It was probably nothing like Neku who are kind but yet pretty strict. He stood there for a moment as he tried to think of something to do. He hated the feeling of being helpless so it was a good thing it didn't come out much. Although right now it was slowly seeping out.
"I...don't unpack,"
Wait, so he keeps all of his clothes in there? Wouldn't it be hard to get the clothes out? What about his books or even his school bag? That is unless that was his school bag but then that might cause some trouble in the future. He didn't want to force the guy though and just nodded. Who knows, maybe his roommate would unpack one day and well this just wasn't the day yet. He slowly nodded to himself, that sounded like a possible idea. After all, maybe he was just a bit nervous or something. It was a good thing this guy wasn't roomed with Rikka. Not even god would know how that would have turned out.
In the middle of his thoughts he missed Dareynn drawing out his sword. If it wasn't for the sun that shone through the window showing a glint the teen would had not even noticed it. Strange what was he doing with a weapon. There was no way he would actually kill someone with it right? Even more was that isn't against the rules to have weapons on the premises. Now he knew he was going to have to be careful if this guy had a weapon since he had none. Although he was pretty good at the art of the sword, that's kind of worthless seeing he doesn't have a sword with him.

Dareynn looked at Neku, wondering, Why is this guy so close to me? Didn't he have any respect for one's personal space? Obviously not, or he wouldn't be hovering. Dareynn wondered if the guy would say anything else; he seemed to want to chat. Maybe his old roommate had been talkative.
Well, no matter the situation, he was going to have to get used to Dareynn's silence. He leaned back and pulled one leg up to his chest, draping his arm over his knee and letting his hand hang at the end of his arm.
He opened his mouth to say something, then realized he had no idea what he would (or should) say. "Get the heck away" seemed pretty rude, and Dareynn didn't feel like moving into a new dorm right this second. "Please move" was just not something that would ever pass his lips, so he just closed his mouth again, deciding to deal with Neku's close proximity.

Neku watched his roommate for a moment as the silent wen ton. He seems to be thinking a lot which gave him some time to think about as well. Only he wasn't sure on what to think. The silent went on and he really didn't like it as it was starting to be far too common to be loved and appreciated any more. As if on cue he heard a loud knock on his door. He knew who would knock that loud without a care in the world. It was his sister Rikka, she was either lost or she had found where his room was. He wasn't sure which one it was but he was thankful nonetheless.
As he opened the door, he was dragged out of his room by his sister. From the looks of her face she was lost as she was pouting. A nervous chuckle escpaed his lips as he turned around to his roommate."Dareynn-san. I'm going to be out for a bit. I have to help my sister. " he informed his roommate as he was slowly pulled away from the room. Obviously his sister was very embarrassed.

Dareynn tensed when someone knocked loudly on the door; for a moment, he half-expected his step-father to storm in and box his ears for being lazy and just sitting around. He moved away from the door without really noticing he did it, his eyes widening a fraction as Neku went to answer the door.
. . . Wait, Neku? Giving himself a mental shake, Dareynn realized his step-father simply couldn't be there. He was at the stupid freaking boarding school he'd been all but banished to. When Neku opened the door, someone grabbed him and started dragging him into the hall. From what Dareynn could see of the person, she was female and looked mighty embarassed.
He scooted away from the door again, his hand going to his dagger to draw it back as well. He didn't want to get dragged out the door, too. "Dareynn-san." -he would never get used to that- "I'm going to be out for a bit. I have to help my sister." Dareynn nodded stiffly, hoping he didn't feel the need to introduce the nervous girl. The last thing he wanted was for some girl to look down her nose at him because he was different or he looked weird. Girls always did, without fail.[/blockquote]
