You would think. That a school with this kinda name would at least have chocolate in the cafeteria.
Not that Roxas had looked particularly hard, and in truth he was more in the mood for ice cream than chocolate, but he was having a bad first day and generally took it out on everything when he did.
Even so, he'd heard there was a beach, and the city wasn't far from the campus grounds (even if the unsettling warnings about missing the bus back were still ringing in his ears), so it wasn't like he was short on things to do. Headaches, as usual, just kept him from doing them. He couldn't really remember being this sickly before, but it seemed like whenever he got a headache now it was debilitating to the point of landing him in bed or in a corner and nearly crying with agony.
Chocolate, upon reflection, would probably just aggravate the one he already had.
Figures.

Mmn, lunch. My favorite period. Nothing to do but lounge around and stuff my face. Emerald orbs scanned the lines. Nothing really...interesting. A couple kids with wacked-out hair colors, but that was normal...in some cases. Hmn, so his choices were dwindling for lunch food. Ew, mystery meat or spaghetti. What the hell? This school was supposed to be prestigious! He shoved his hands in his pockets, figuring something known would be better than eating anything mysterious. He flipped his head around, looking to see if there was anything interested around.
Obviously...there was.
So communication between him and his "best friend" today was kinda low...when he'd tried to text him in second block he'd gotten his phone taken up by some hot, scary, female member of the staff. God it sucked to be a fourth year. Maybe it'd be easier if he you know...had failed a couple grades. Then he and Roxas could talk whenever.
When he spotted the kid, he grinned sadistically. So making Roxas flip out was a hobby...what could he say? His name was Axel. Area of expertise, much? Coming up behind him, he leaned down to make his mouth parallel with his ear,
"Hey, Roxi."

Roxas only seemed to jolt in surprise when he heard that and felt the breath against his ear that meant Axel was way too close for comfort, but in truth he'd only been a few decibels and a jab in the side away from jumping out of his skin.
Instead he turned with a deadpan look, steadfastly ignoring the fact that he'd just shaken the one lonely meatball off his spaghetti. "How many times have I told you not to call me that?" he asked sourly, but didn't pursue it. With Axel these things tended to go in one ear and out the other. "I didn't realize you had this lunch period, though. Class go okay?" he added in a more subdued tone, trying to keep the tone a little light since he knew he was in a bad mood. He wasn't sure if Axel would pick up on it, but the last thing he needed was to alienate his best friend by snapping at him--as Roxas often did, depending on the situation.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever," He said nonchalantly, though a grin still plastered itself goofily on his face as he slid down on the bench next to him. He pursed his lips, giving the 'spaghetti' a sour look. Definitely looked hardly edible. Maybe taking the food away from Roxas would be a better idea...
"Hmn, yes, I'm very glad I have this lunch with you," He said slyly, hiding the fact that he was actually skipping class to be there. Not like anyone noticed that he had 2nd lunch anyway. 'Specially the not teacher...
Putting his chin in his palm, he smirked Cheshire Cat like at him, "Class was fine, if you like getting your phone taken up and being whacked in the head with a ruler. God, there is nobody cool in my year. Maybe if I act dumb they'll put me in a class with you?" He pouted.
"So anyway, what about you, RocksAss?" He tried carelessly, "Is that spaghetti any good? How'd your classes go?" He sat back, crossing his arms.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever."
Roxas rolled his eyes. Point proven.
"Hmn, yes, I'm very glad I have this lunch with you."
There was a note in Axel's voice that made Roxas turn a funny look on him, only to discover that Axel's sly grin was too close, as always. The redhead seemed to have no concept of personal space.
"Class was fine, if you like getting your phone taken up and being whacked in the head with a ruler. God, there is nobody cool in my year. Maybe if I act dumb they'll put me in a class with you?"
Roxas couldn't help snorting. "You might just be able to pull that one off." Not that he'd mind being in a class or two with Axel. Maybe he could pull some strings and transfer into that high-end literature course--if he remembered right, Axel was taking it sooner or later. And who was Roxas to pass up a chance to pester his best friend with Milton and Thoreau?
"So anyway, what about you, RocksAss? Is that spaghetti any good? How'd your classes go?"
The blond tore his eyes from the fork he was twirling in the spaghetti to shoot Axel a warning glare. "Nah, it's pretty crap, actually. We'll hafta see if we can find something better in the city...this stuff is fine now and then, but I dunno if I wanna eat it every day." He took a bite, tail end of a noodle slithering up and smacking a red imprint onto his chin, before remembering Axel's other question. "Oh, uh--class was fine, I guess," he added distractedly, hunting down a napkin to get rid of a few red smears. "History was really kinda depressing, that teacher's a little...and I'm really not looking forward to P.E. Have you seen the guy? He's green and crazy."

"You callin' me stupid, blondie?" He asked with a laugh, ruffling the blonde's hair. He nodded boredly at almost everything he said until the mention of the town.
"Hey!After school we should go get some icecream or something. I am DYING without it." He whined, pouting, "And anyways, what's your PE block? I've got it after this cla-er, lunch." He scratched the back of his head, laughing.
(Sorry about the short reply. D: )

"You callin' me stupid, blondie?"
Roxas started to reply to that but decided to fight with Axel's hand instead, trying to keep him from messing up Roxas's already tousled hair.
"Hey!After school we should go get some icecream or something. I am DYING without it. And anyways, what's your PE block? I've got it after this cla-er, lunch."
"Oh, uh..." Roxas rummaged in his bag for his schedule. He wasn't too clear on all he had just yet, but... "...Math," he said sourly, making a face. "But I'm getting in kinda late...they made it sound like there might be some switching around. I know I've got P.E. after that. Which teacher do you have for that?"
Axel was two years ahead of him, though. Roxas didn't really expect to have many classes together, if they even got one, but at least there could be ice cream afterward like in the old days. Wonder if they'll have sea-salt...

"What, for PE?" Axel asked, "Last I checked, green dude was the only teacher." He leaned his hips forward, pulling a crumpled piece of paper, obviously his schedule, out of his back pocket.
"Mmn, yep." He said and he smoothed it with his lower arm on the table, "Piccolo...or whatever. Green dude sounds fine to me." He shrugged, attempting to fold the thing back up again and slip it into his front pocket. "Gah. I was hoping we had it together, yanno." He said. The only images coming to mind involved towels and half naked Roxases in the locker room. He smirked devilishly, looking back over at Roxas.
"So anyway, how 'bout that icecream?" He asked, arms folded over his chest again and knees brought to the edge of the table, "Maybe I'll even be nice and buy some for you...if you're lucky. Maybe." He already knew he was going to have to end up treating...and probably would anyway.

"Gah. I was hoping we had it together, yanno."
"Yeah..."
Although, that would mean a lot of working and sweating and changing together, not to mention he thought the Academy had communal showers. It's just Axel, though, he thought distractedly, wondering why the idea bothered him so much. What's it matter? He doesn't have anything I don't have. Well. Not on the most basic level, at least--
Why am I thinking about this?!
He tuned back into the conversation in time to catch Axel's comment about the ice cream and turned to discover that his best friend was practically folded up into his chair, green eyes glinting playfully. Roxas smirked. "You better be paying. You know I'm completely broke after that watermelon back in Twilight Town." Something softened in his eyes briefly. "...But I'll buy it next time. Only fair, right?" Even though it felt like something in him had crumpled a little too easily, and he hated it.

"Hey, that watermelon was not my idea." Axel said as he put up his hands defensively, "But yeah, of course I'll buy. I got money. And it doesn't matter if you treat me next time, I won't hold you accounted for stuff like that." He looked lost in thought for a moment, knuckles pressed to lips. He looked back up a moment later and gae a toothy grin.
"Man, this is why I hate school. And being old." He sighed melodramatically, resting his chin on his knee and outstretching his arms onto the table. He looked back over at Roxas, fixating his head so the side of it rested right below the knee on his leg. "I really can't wait to see what the dorm arrangements are though." Axel laughed sadistically, drumming fingers on the table.

"Man, this is why I hate school. And being old."
Roxas snorted. "Yeah, you're old all right. You're so old you probably gotta shave and shit now." He tossed a grape harmlessly at Axel's temple.
But then he caught the second part and hesitated. Then that's what Axel was concerned about. He really does wanna be around me... It wasn't something Roxas had really doubted, but he'd expected Axel to be upset with Roxas for leaving him--at least for a while. But the redhead had treated it like anything else, shrugging it off into the past pooling about his feet and concentrating on being best friends again.
"If I get stuck with you or something we're gonna kill each other every morning," he chided, his grin betraying him. He'd requested Axel on the form anyway, but Roxas had never been an early riser and several mornings back in the Organization had been filled with Axel or someone prodding him awake.

He laughed, swatting away the grape that harmlessly fell onto his shoulder, "What? Of course I do. You should see my hairy ass unibrow. Haha, just kiddin'. But still, you're old enough to shave too, Grandpa. You don't have hair?" He teased, grinning like the proverbial Cheshire Cat. He narrowed his eyes gently somehow, looking at him.
"Kill each other?" He laughed, "You haven't killed me yet. He pointed out as he tapped his temple with a long pale finger, "And the same goes for me. This long together and no death, we must be like...compatible or something. In the stars, man." He laughed, slapping a hand down on Roxas' shoulder.

"But still, you're old enough to shave too, Grandpa. You don't have hair?"
Roxas shot his best friend a look that said he'd better not clarify that statement or pursue the issue unless he wanted to find something heavier than a grape hurled at his head.
"Kill each other?" were Axel's next words, ironically enough. "You haven't killed me yet. And the same goes for me. This long together and no death, we must be like...compatible or something. In the stars, man."
Roxas opened his mouth to dispute that and discovered he didn't want to. The memory of thinking he had killed Axel, for just an instant in the basement of the Old Mansion, wasn't something he wanted to bring up.
So he snorted dubiously instead. "In the stars? You sound more like Sora than I do." He hesitated, tugging at a loose thread on his jeans. "...But you're right. We've survived so far...in spite of everything, ri--?" The sharp sound of the bell cut off his last word, giving over into the dull roar of several chairs scraping back and conversations coming to an end. "Oh...sounds like P.E. for you. And math for me." He made a face.

"Yeah...PE," He groaned, shoving his face into the median of his knees, "Without my best friend." He looked up, pursing his lips in a sour frown, green eyes narrowed in irritation, "With Green Dude."
Axel pushed off the table, scooting his chair backwards and standing up, moving the chair back to the table with his foot. He ruffled the blonde hair with a mischevious grin, "Hey don't compare me to him. I'm your best friend. Look, let's not get into all that harsh shit from the past, okay? We can be friends now, right? That it's all over." He heaved a sigh, swinging his backpack over his shoulder, working his shoulders to try and get used to the annoying jacket.

"Oh, I...uh...!"
Roxas hadn't really planned to address it--if anything he'd been trying to avoid the issue--but the fact that Axel brought it up made him hesitate. Was he really letting it go, like he said? Issues had always seemed to roll of Axel's shoulders like water on a duck, but Roxas could still remember the note in his voice when they'd fought over the major things back at the Castle. He wasn't sure if Axel was trying to reassure him or just head it off himself.
"...Right. Uh--don't let him run you too hard! I'll catch you back at the room!" he said a little more brightly than he really meant it, shouldering his backpack and moving to escape. Axel didn't want to go into it and neither did he--and maybe that wasn't a good thing, but they'd manage. Somehow. We always did before.
Roxas out.
