The breeze was calm and gentle, nothing but the sound of chirping crickets filling the air. The silver haired teen was leaning against the trunk of a willow tree, staring up at the clear night sky. It was late and she couldn't sleep; she had too much on her mind recently.

The moonlight filtered down from the crystal dark blue sky. It streaked down through the tallest trees and created sparkling silhouettes of tiny creatures dancing along the foliage. It was a bright night, with many stars twinkling as they exploded a million or more light years away. The breeze itself smelled sweet of lilacs, roses, and other aromas emasculating from the gardens and even from the outside forest. It wafted thoroughly through the area and immediately created a tranquil wake in it's invisible stream.
Damien closed the door behind him, although it was unnecessary as they shut automatically; he was just use to shutting everything so that his servants, as his parents liked to call them, wouldn't have to lift a finger for such petty things. His footfalls slowly drummed lightly across the concrete flood of the grounds. Walking towards the top of the flight of stairs, he stopped, his hands sliding neatly into the pockets of his pajamas. His pajamas were a matching two piece; a long sleeved button up cotton shirt, and long cotton pants. The clothes were creme white with blue pinstripes going vertically up and down. On each piece, there was an emblem clad in blue, black, red, green, and gold. It was his family trademark. Deverux wore well-padded cashmere slippers the color of midnight blue.
It wasn't a chilly night, either. It was the perfect night to take a stroll. He wasn't too tired, but he felt like he'd get a walk in to tire himself out a little more so he'd have a great sleep. Little did he know what he'd have in store for him.
Taking each step carefully, Damien gracefully declined from the top of the stairs. Each press of his slipper made a soft patting noise, with a rubbery grinding noise as he picked them up on every step. His green and blue eyes glanced around the area as he descended. At the bottom of the stairs was a wonderfully runic and gigantic water fountain. It must have been made of porcelain or some type of white stone. It was marvelous. The water itself was very clear, but seemed to be silver in the moonlight. It sparkled every so clearly like sparklers have been made to sparkle underwater and spark with the movement of the water.
Deverux stood in awe for a moment before he continued past it, toward the arches, where, as he saw in the distance, a young girl was leaning under a magnificent oak tree.

Nayru didn't pay any attention to anything around her, so she couldn't notice the stranger watching her. She then began to sing a soft tune, a lullaby her foster mother used to sing to her as a child.

Damien perched himself on the edge of the fountain for a moment and leaned back so he could look up at the sky. A rhythmic tune was shrouding itself through the air like the scents, but just sound waves. It was the sound of singing. Dev tilted his head ever so slightly toward the direction of the singing. It was the girl by the oak tree. Wonder what she's doing out here so late.. singing. Aren't there guards or.. teachers around to enforce the rules here? He wasn't sure who she was, hence why he was new. Introducing himself was utterly out of the question in his mind, at least. That wasn't usually how he operated. Putting himself out on the line at first glance, or meeting, was the reason why he seemed cold to people. After you got over the formalities and such.. he was quite an open book, for the most part.

After a while, her singing had faded as she stared down at a locket that hung around her neck, containing the pictures of her foster parents before they died. Blinking, she felt eyes on her, turning her head to see a young boy staring at her.

His eyes were focused on hers, not really afraid to let her know he was looking. It was natural to look and to look away once caught was something someone did if they liked them; or was flirting.. or even borderline creepy. But he felt like it wasn't needed to as she didn't seem to be creeped out.
His head was already tilted a bit as a sort of "what" look appeared across his face; not like she could see that far.. or could she?

Nayru noticed his look and snapped out of it, realizing she was in another person's property. She bowed in a polite and an apoligetic manner, running off.

Deverux blinked slowly, as if to fully comprehend what had just happened. The girl looked as if it were her fault and had just ran away from well.. as he saw it, nothing. He didn't feel like he was glowering at her, or even anything that seemed unfriendly.. Unless neutral facial expressions seemed that way?
He was unsure and he turned his head, looking into the dancing water of the fountain. His face look blank to him. No expression whatsoever. So, what did he do?

Nayru stopped for a minute, blinking at herself. Why was she running away? She didn't do anything wrong... Right? Sighing, she covered her face, leaning against the tree again, looking down slightly. Hesitantly, she looked over to see he was still there, only he was looking at himself in the fountain. She took a deep breath and walked towards him, stopping a foot away from him. "Um.... I apologize for running away like that... I thought I was invading your property, and I guess I sort of panicked." she explained.

Hearing footsteps, Deverux turned his body in the direction, the same direction in which the girl was standing. However, this time she had hesitated and began to walk toward him. When she spoke, she sounded sincere and apologetic, which he didn't really understand. Why apologize when nothing happened to apologize for? Maybe he missed something.
"It's really not one person's property', he said flatly, 'It's everyone's. This.. is our home for the while." He had sounded cold, but to him he just sounded indifferent. It was how he was at first.

Nayru felt slightly uncomfortable at the sound of his cold tone. She relaxed though and nodded in understanding, looking around the area. "It sure is beautiful..." she said with a serene smile.

He felt the aura of the uncomfortable situation and he figured it was his tone. Dev didn't want to sound cold, but he didn't know how to make being indifferent any... different than feeling cold. He automatically felt apologetic. He wasn't entirely use to people becoming emotional. Anyone he was use to would either ignore it or be just as indifferent... such a new experience for him.
"Yes... It is a very exquisite night. Only a few get to experience the luxury of such beauty" He said with more life and enthusiasm than before.

Nayru sensed the difference in his tone and her smile grew, looking around again. "Not many people take the time to enjoy the beauty of the world... Take lightning for example. It seems frightening at first, but when you actually think about it, it's like light dancing in the clouds."

Deverux listened quietly to the sound of her voice and nodded in concurrence.
"Yes. Although some don't fear lighting because they don't believe it's beautiful. Their claps of loud noise, and most dislike extremely loud noises... Especially when the ground shakes"
He smiled a bit, looking upward, almost wishing a streak of lightning would light up the night sky, piercing it.

Nayru listened intently to what he was saying and nodded in agreement, staring up at the thousands of stars in the sky. She felt herself fall to the ground, landing on the soft grass as she stared up at the night sky. She seemed to be in a daze for a moment until she finally spoke. "My mother would tell me all sorts of stories about the stars when I was little..."
