"Why did the Keyblade choose me? I have to know."
About the Roleplayer
Nickname: Rox
RP Experience: About a year, Intermediate level
About the Character
Name: Roxas
Age: Appears fifteen, actually only one year old
Anime/Game/OC: Game: Kingdom Hearts
Personality: Roxas isn’t as cuddly as his demure Other, Sora, but he does tend to get a little warm and fuzzy around his friends. Otherwise his personality is a bit more like Riku’s, treating strangers with wary politeness and potential aggressors with suspicion and sometimes outright anger. He can even get a little prickly around his friends, but it depends on who it is; if it’s someone like Olette or Xion, he’s more likely to be gentle. If it’s Axel or Hayner, either prepare for boyish joshing or bring on the snarks.
History: Roxas was born from Sora when Sora used Riku’s dark Keyblade to liberate both Kairi’s heart and his own from his chest. Xemnas found him and offered him a place in the Organization, a purpose, and so Roxas accepted and ultimately met Axel and Xion, whom he grew close with. But Xion couldn’t be persuaded to stay with the Organization and eventually Roxas followed in her footsteps, abandoning Axel and falling into DiZ’s hands. His memory of the Organization was wiped, and Roxas spent seven days in DiZ’s data Twilight Town, trying to understand what was happening to him even as the false life with Hayner, Pence, and Olette fell to pieces around his ears.
At this point he met Naminé, who explained to him that he was never actually meant to exist and that he was a part of Sora that needed to be returned. Roxas was understandably dismayed, but as he became involved in a tug of war between DiZ and Axel (who had fought his way into the data Twilight Town to find him), it became apparent that he had no real choice in the matter.
The final straw was when his friends stopped paying attention and became the data shadows that they always were in reality. Roxas escaped Axel, now bent on destroying him, and got to the mansion to speak to Naminé. But DiZ seized her and moved to escape with his cloaked aide, who warned him that Nobodies were flooding the dimension. Roxas headed down to the basement, where he encountered and fought with Axel, regaining most of his memories of the Organization in the process. Axel was captured by DiZ and Roxas moved on to fuse with Sora, as he was meant to.
That didn’t stop him from challenging the Keybearer when Sora reached the World That Never Was, demanding to know why the Keyblade chose him: the same question Roxas had left the Organization to answer. When Sora defeated him, Roxas decided he made a good other, and didn’t give his original self any further resistance.
Instead he met with the shadow of Axel on the clocktower in Twilight Town only briefly, just long enough to share some ice cream and theorize as they used to about hearts and--finally--to say their goodbyes.
He also got a chance to speak with Naminé one more time at the Altar of Naught before surrendering to Sora completely.
Role: Second Year Student
Weaknesses: Curiosity, reluctance to trust, inability to let go
Strengths: Belief in himself and Sora, discerning skepticism, strong moral center
Weapons/Magic: Twin Keyblades, power over light
How did you come to be at the academy?: The Organization is in tatters and splitting from Sora turned out to be a bad idea, so he figures he’ll follow Axel.
Custom Title: Key of Destiny
RP Sample: Roxas hated rhythms, which meant Roxas hated school just on principle. The false memories back in Twilight Town had been void of this hatred, though, and since he’d never actually been to school (not as Roxas anyway) he couldn’t really say one way or another how he felt about it.
Plus, Axel was here. That in itself was enough reason, even if Roxas wasn’t sure if his former best friend would be too happy to see him. You know. Given that the last time he saw Axel alive was in a fight to the death.
But he had the uniform and books, the papers were signed, the bell was ringing, Sora was too far away to matter right now…
So Roxas hooked two fingers around his bag and rested it at his back, trudging past the gates in much the way one might walk to his funeral.
