About the Roleplayer
Nickname: Rox
RP Experience: About one year.
About the Character
Name: Axel
Age: Appears eighteen, actually only about 9-5 years old.
Anime/Game/OC: Game: Kingdom Hearts
Personality: Axel is a slippery snake of a person with a silver tongue. Being without a heart only emphasizes a natural callousness: Axel will use or eliminate anyone he has to for his own enigmatic motives. He’s incapable of regret, though sometimes he pretends it—once he’d killed Vexen, he got unusually quiet and seemed almost irritated with Marluxia for ordering the termination. But all the most interesting pretenses come out when he’s around Roxas or Xion, as he’ll indulge in jovial banter, crushed rejection, or blinding rage on their account. Despite his devotion to the two of them, though, he most often prioritizes his own survival. When it became apparent that Roxas was lost to the Organization, Axel fought with the Superior and Xaldin both, but ultimately crumpled when his own nonexistence was threatened. He was also quick to run from Saix once the Organization had turned on Axel, instead of taking his chances and applying his twisted logic and charm as he had in other situations.
History: At some indeterminate point in the past, Axel joined the Organization. He became Number VIII and pursued the Organization’s goal like any other high-ranking Nobody. Numbers XIII and XIV became his closest friends.
But then he was assigned to Castle Oblivion, along with Numbers IV through VI, XI, and XII. Axel took to the castle’s topside with Larxene and Marluxia while Vexen, Zexion, and Lexaeus ran their experiments in the basement. In the process, he became involved with a plot to overthrow Xemnas and the rest of the Organization using Naminé, the puppet charged with the task of calling Sora to the castle. He and Sora came face to face on the second floor of the castle, where Axel warned him against his memories and offered him help. Sora turned him down, though, and Axel went back to discuss the condition of the Keybearer with Larxene. He was interested in the fact that Sora had remained conscious as a Heartless, which led Larxene to deduce that Axel was interested in the strength of Sora’s heart.
Vexen crashed the party when he showed up with his new toy, the Riku Replica. Where Larxene belittled and snarked at their superior, Axel maintained a level of respect and gave Vexen the card that would punctuate his battle with Sora. Not long after that, Marluxia ordered him to take out Vexen. Axel obliged, proving himself a worthy traitor to the Organization in Marluxia’s eyes, but then he turned around again and encouraged Naminé to escape and help Sora. Larxene realized his betrayal too late, so by the time Sora got to Marluxia, the Lord of the Castle and the Cloaked Schemer were the only two people left in Axel’s way. Marluxia escaped with Naminé while Sora fought with Axel on the grounds that Axel was willing to harm Namineé to get to Marluxia and Sora wanted to eliminate any threat to her survival. Axel was defeated, and to Sora it probably looked like he died, but in fact he only escaped in time to find the Riku Replica wandering by itself. He convinced the Replica that finding new power would make him real and give him the ability to take out the real Riku, and so used it to destroy Zexion, who was already weary after his battle with Riku.
Axel returned to the rest of the Organization, gave his report, and spent the rest of the year in a relatively idyllic state with Roxas and Xion at his side. But then Xion, overwhelmed by the memories of Sora, tried to leave the Organization. Axel and Roxas both fought to stop her, but eventually Xion was destroyed. Not long after that, Roxas looked to follow in her footsteps, trying to discover the reason behind the Keyblade’s choice. Axel tried to convince him otherwise, but Roxas escaped the Organization and was captured by Riku. He was placed in a false Twilight Town that DiZ had designed out of data, but the Organization found a way inside and sent Axel along with several Dusks to find and capture Roxas. Axel faced him during the Struggle Tournament and discovered that Roxas’s memory had been wiped, but the boy wouldn’t come with him willingly and DiZ got involved in the middle of the fight. Axel had to run away, and was given the order to eliminate Roxas. He objected, but when Xemnas threatened to turn him into a Dusk he conceded and tracked Roxas down at the usual spot on the sixth day. DiZ froze him before he could attack, though, and Roxas escaped to the Old Mansion. Axel, who had gotten in through a portal in the corner of the room in the basement, challenged him there again. Roxas discovered his ability to fight with two Keyblades and defeated Axel again, but promised to meet him in the next life.
Axel faded away and fell into DiZ’s hands. DiZ ordered Riku to eliminate both Axel and Naminé, who had spent the year working to fix Sora’s memories, but Riku let her escape with him instead. At Naminé’s request, Axel went to Destiny Islands to collect Kairi, but King Mickey opened a portal for her to escape through. Axel chased her to Twilight Town and seized her, only for her to escape him a second time and become Saix’s captive. Axel told Sora as much when he showed up at Hollow Bastion, and also explained the reasoning behind the Organization’s plan—using Sora to complete Kingdom Hearts. But when Saix appeared Axel was quick to escape.
Persecuted by the Nobodies he used to command, Axel made his way to the divide between the data Twilight Town and The World That Never Was, hoping to see Roxas when Sora came through. He did see Sora and battled alongside him with diminishing strength, but in the end there were too many enemies and Axel saw his only recourse as a devastating kamikaze attack. It cleared the way for Sora, who bent by Axel’s side and heard from him that Axel had really only been there to see his best friend. Axel apologized for kidnapping Kairi, and with his last bit of strength opened the portal to The World That Never Was. Then he faded like the others.
But Axel did get to see Roxas one last time. Their consciousnesses met on the clocktower at Twilight Town after Sora fought Roxas in The World That Never Was, and they discussed what life (and death) was going to be like for them now. Then Roxas faded away into Sora, with his question about the Keyblade answered and his last words to Axel spoken.

RP Sample: His hold on the world was back to being about as tenuous as before, after what felt like years of honing the will to be. It had taken so much effort just to hold onto himself in the darkness, to distinguish what was Axel from oblivion. He may not exist, but he was very much self-aware, and that's the only thing that got him through--holding on because he had no choice and slipping back to the point that it felt like none of his efforts would matter.
But he'd made it through, and he was alive.
Well.
About as alive as a Nobody could be expected to be, and certainly more alive than the Nobodies he'd turned to nothing. Castle Oblivion should have echoed of them, should have kept some memory of them in its white walls and bleached flowers--but Castle Oblivion didn't supply memories, it sucked them dry. That was fine by Axel. He had no real desires, but he definitely didn't care to remember the seemingly endless game of deception and betrayal that had resulted in the complete eradication of half the Organization. Sora, his favorite actor, diamond in the rough, final gamble and very last trump card, had come through for him after Roxas and Xion both disappeared from his life as quickly as they'd entered it.
Well, he thought idly, running midnight black fingers along the pristine walls as he crossed to the orb that would show him everything in the castle. Gotta start somewhere. After all, he'd been to the ruin of the World That Never Was and seen for himself that the empty world was uninhabitable. If any other Organization members had survived, they would likely gravitate here as the last stronghold against Sora.
And Axel would be the first to know.
